IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot's Watch Edition "Le Petit Prince" IW501002

The International Watch Company launched the production of a ‘special watch for pilots’ in 1936. The first model had a particularly big crown, Arabic numerals, and an off-centred seconds hand. It was anti-magnetic and resistant to fluctuations in temperature in the range of -40°C to +40°C. The rotating bezel of the first Pilot Watch and hard glass attest to the original purpose of the watch. The bezel featured a small triangular index that helped to read the time, a feature especially appreciated by army pilots. In 1940 the German Army placed an order with IWC for 1,000 pieces of B-Uhr pilot’s watches with a big crown and 55 mm case. IWC’s Big Pilot’s Watch is an evolution from the B-Uhr watch and has remained one of the most popular IWC models to this day.
This new model is equipped with a modern movement with stunning seven days of power reserve. The remaining power reserve can be easily read on the dial, meaning you will always know when to start wearing the 46.2 mm case timepiece again or have it wound in a watch winder. The blue bright dial perfectly matches the brown calfskin strap with characteristic press studs.
